They want you to fear because they do not want you to know your own strength. We the people do not push our selves to great lengths because we fear losing. A loss does not mean you will not gain. It just means you took a hit and recovering from that hit may or may not be easy. If everything were easy then everyone else would do it! You have to build yourself up mentally so that you can with stand the pain or any damage sustained with the loss. Eg. It is like being a child and riding a bike at first you start with training wheels. You have on a helmet, knee pads, wrists gear and you are safely graded and the assistance of your parent that is holding on to the bike. You then slowly out grow a few of these things because now you are coming out of your safety net. No more knee pads or wrist gear now its just you a helmet and you training wheels.             QUESTION: What do you think, in your opinion, are the biggest selling points for “The Last Ship?”         ANSWER: The biggest selling points for “The Last Ship” start with the United States Navy and its structure of goodness and power and discipline and civil order. These are the things that break down when you have an apocalyptic event such as we portray, and I think the honor that we show and the respect that we show to the United States Navy and to the other armed services is a huge selling point. I think there’s a huge appetite for that around the world. These are men and women that put their lives on the line and sacrifice years from their families and loved ones to basically allow you and me and the rest of us to make TV shows about it. So we try to portray that as best we can.  Plus, Eric Dane is a powerful, powerful captain as our lead. It’s always important to have someone in the leading role who is a kind and stern and reliable leading man. And Rhona

       Question: I really enjoyed those first three episodes. And I liked the fact that the characters weren’t all just a kind of a one note character. Yours in particular had a lot of development even just in those first three. Is that something that existed when you started with the part? Or is it something that developed as you were working with it?         Answer: Gosh. Thank you so much for saying that. It had to develop very much because of the nature of the first episode and the information that she was holding with the - against the Navy I suppose. And so once that information implodes, there’s a great release of a human being that was allowed to unfold. And I very much wanted to make sure that she was released and the human being underneath that was released and exposed with a chance to exchange some level of vulnerability with a view to working as a unified force. And also with the audience accepting her as not just being this sort of closed

Question:   So, you know, in just a couple of short weeks here your character has obviously become very popular, popular to an extent that we’re now actually starting to hear rumors about a spin-off.  I’m wondering what do you like about this role and would you consider continuing on as Kate past this series? Answer: Oh, initially I liked the fact that we meet Kate at a low point in her life, you know, she doesn’t have it all together.  She’s been demoted from her job, which means she obviously has professional problems going on as well as personal problems because her husband was found out to be selling government secrets to a foreign government.  So I feel like at the time she had it really gave me a starting point with somewhere to go from and somewhere to go up from, which is what we’re seeing Kate do now in this journey.
