In 2021, ICI’s Benefit in a Box returns in support of an organization dedicated to curators who champion artistic practice, build essential infrastructures and institutions, and generate public engagement with art to build stronger art communities.

Responding to seismic shifts across the US and around the world in 2020, ICI has continued to offer timely, critical perspectives on contemporary art and culture and advocate for lasting and sustainable change in the curatorial field. With its unparalleled international network of curators, artists, art spaces, and patrons, ICI has proven to be resilient, resourceful, and responsive to the needs of art communities.

ICI’s Benefit in a Box not only brings elements of an ICI Benefit into the comfort of your own home, but also the knowledge that every purchase truly makes an impact:

• Each Box is a Platform, a space for change and innovation that offers opportunities for experimental ideas that may not otherwise happen. Through its Curatorial Research Fellowships and professional development programs, ICI fosters new knowledge and revises art histories.

• Each Box is a Collaboration, building generosity through the sharing of knowledge and resources. ICI’s collaborators are the independent voices in the curatorial and artistic fields who are at the forefront of shaping curatorial trends and discourse. Each Traveling Exhibition and Public Program provides access to these curatorial perspectives, developing deep and essential connections.

• Each Box is a Bridge, as ICI continues to think critically across the globe, promoting international exchange and solidarity. In recent years, ICI has leveraged its network of Curatorial Intensive alumni, who are based in more than 70 countries around the world, to encourage transformative thinking in the field, both in museums and outside art institutions where independent practices are rapidly emerging. And through seminars such as the Curatorial Forum, ICI promotes dialogue across state-lines, national and cultural borders.

Available in limited quantities at various levels of giving listed below, the boxes feature a limited-edition plate set produced in collaboration with Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s studio entitled Running Fence (plates). Based on their preparatory drawings of the iconic 1976 installation Running Fence, the design runs across a set of three porcelain plates. For more information and to view the design click here.

The boxes also feature a postcard set by artist Joiri Minaya, a geometric globe by Areaware, beverages by Ruinart and Wandering Barman, dessert by Cuarentena Baking and more!
